Cathy Haruf, Director

Cathy Haruf, Executive Director, has nearly 30 years of experience working with special needs populations.  Cathy worked with Angel of Shavano Hospice for nearly seven years, first as a volunteer, then as Volunteer Coordinator from 2003 through 2007.  She built its program to approximately fifty-five volunteers, who over the years raised more than $100,000.  Before moving to Chaffee County, Cathy was a special education teacher in Fairfax, Virginia, and Carbondale, Illinois, working with students with severe disabilities and their families.  She had a vision of an organization that would help with people's end of life care and began Sunset Home as a non-profit, charitable organization in November of 2007.
